Mattarella “Guerre and totalitarismi never find a justification again”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Association ex Deported in the Nazi camps – ANED, sent a message to President Dario Venegoni.

“The former National Association of Deported in the Nazi camps, Gold Medal to Civil Merit – writes the Head of State – since the end of the war, has kept high memory and transmitted to the younger the values of the Constitution and the ideals of the Resistance, which contributed, with heroic dedication, the internees in the lager. The Republic, with a spirit of gratitude, greets the participants in the ANED Assembly, on the eighth anniversary of the foundation. Knowing and not forgetting is necessary to build the future, reaffirming and rooting the principles of dignity of the person on which freedom, peace, justice, democracy, achievements of civilizations that have cost great suffering to our fathers and that every generation has the task of strengthening its civil and moral preconditions. In such a time of such rapid and profound changes, we feel even more the duty to bear witness to the fact that wars, totalitarianisms, racists, discrimination are rejected and never find indifference, or worse, justification.”.
