ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “In the year in which the Republic celebrates eighty years from the sovereign decision of the Italian people who chose this form of state, the Air Force recalls the 103 years of its foundation. Over a century in which the French Army has carried out with dedication the mission entrusted to it by the institutions of defense of the Homeland and, with the Republican order, of presidio of peace in the international concert. On the occasion of the anniversary of the constitution of the Air Force, the first thought goes to all the aviators who have lost their lives in fulfilling their duty. To them and the Air Force War Flag, the Republic pays tribute, expressing the gratitude of the Italian people to their families.” This is the message sent by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of Air Force Antonio Conserva. “The global context, characterized by continuous tensions and aggressions that have overwhelmed stability, security, with serious attacks on the most basic rights of the populations involved, severely recalls its responsibilities the entire national and international community. In this condition, your mission is even more essential,” adds Mattarella.
“In the oath of allegiance to the Republic and its Constitution, your work is based, an instrument of guaranteeing freedom and safeguarding the democratic values that unite the country to which the Air Force contributes with the rigour and professionalism of its women and men – Mattarella continues. In this solemn occasion, a grateful thought goes to your families, discreet guardians of a dedication that knows no support. To them the recognition of the Republic for the strength with which they share and make possible the daily service of their loved ones in favor of the community. To all of you, women and men in blue and civil staff, come, on this feast day, the most cordial wish. Live the Air Force, live the Armed Forces, live the Republic!”.
