PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Culture as an awareness tool for a delicate theme such as treatment of care: this is the joint objective of Samo Ets and Associazione Zero K with the show ‘Mask and Truth – La Dat on the stage of the vity, played today afternoon at the Teatro Politeama in Palermo. The event will also take place tomorrow at 3 pm at Casa San Filippo in Agrigento, with free admission. The show aims to spread knowledge about the Early Provision of Treatment (DAT) and on the individual ability to assert each decision of a therapeutic character: artistic reproduction in this sense becomes a tool to convey lightness to the listener and to establish a greater empathy with themes that concern the life of each person. “The Samo has been engaged for more than thirty years in palliative care – says Tania Rinaldi, a consultant of the Foundation, – In the centre the patient is increasingly forced, who must have the freedom to decide what must be his path of life. His life is also part of the disease, so we must constantly maintain a time of fundamental care, with the decision that the person wants to take for his life: it does not mean to give up a patient who decides to take a path outside the tools of care, but to let the rest of his life live with the disease and how he decides.” The reflection of the actor Saverio Bari focuses on the ability of art to help people overcome fears, prejudices and taboos, transforming delicate themes on occasions of awareness: “These topics are usually entrusted to conferences or debates, with all the distance that this mode creates: art has the great gift of shortening distances, so it takes an argument without making it expire from the intellectual point of view and makes it empathetic. What is created is a heart-to-heart dialogue: concepts remain, but metabolism is not intellectual but rather physical. For a few years I have worked with Zero K, this is the second work we do together and I think it has been particularly successful because it has this ability to arrive without putting a distance between topic and listener.” To get into the merits of what Dap is and when it is called into question is Denise Vacca, a paleatist doctor and a member of Zero K: “Law 219/2017, which rules on informed consent and early treatment provisions but also shared care planning, allows the person to express what he wants in terms of choices for the therapies he wants or does not want to do after being informed of the pros and cons. When the Provision is drafted, it can be deposited in the City Hall at the Civil State Office: the Municipality itself is obliged to pour them into the data bank of the Ministry of Health within 48 hours of the deposition, so they have legal value. While the Early Provision of Treatment can also be done by healthy, shared planning of care is instead a method of choice that the person does when he is already sick: the person, along with the healing team and the family, can say what he wants or does not want. The paleatist doctor is the protagonist in these choices but can be any doctor, beginning with that of General Medicine that can address from the cultural point of view, explaining that there is this opportunity and offering more purely medical knowledge regarding the various therapeutic choices”.
