ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The theme of humanization of care has assumed in recent years a growing importance in the Italian and regional health scene: not an accessory theme, but the recognition of the dignity, emotions and history of the person, even before his pathology.
The Lazio Region, on a strategic impulse of President Francesco Rocca and under the guidance of Regional Director Health Andrea Urbani, in collaboration with the ASL Roma 1, has inserted the humanization among the priority themes of the General Health States, which took place in November 2025, placing among the strategic objectives the strengthening of the proximity of the services and the integral takeover of the patient. With this objective, the “CURA – Competition for Humanization and Recognition of Assistance” award was established, an annual recognition that publicly enhances the most significant humanization experiences made in the Regional Health Service of Lazio, building a replicable model and a moment of recognition and pride, shared between institutions, professionals and citizens.
“CURA” comes from the belief that good humanization practices are often invisible: they are born in departments, lanes, districts and daily gestures of professionals who choose to treat the patient as a person. Care also means taking care of the person in his entirety. It means listening, understanding and accompanying each person in their own path of care, recognizing their needs and emotions.
Humanization of care today is an essential component of the quality of health services. In addition to clinical excellence and technological innovation, it plays a decisive role in the ability to offer respectful assistance to the person, able to promote listening, communication, reception and participation in decisions concerning his/her health. Promoting the humanization of care means building a health that is increasingly close to citizens, capable of combining professional competence, innovation and attention to human values that are the basis of every care relationship.
This award aims to create an annual moment of shared institutional pride between institutions, professionals and citizens, bring to light the experiences of excellence in humanization that live in the silence of the presidi, the districts and the territorial services of SSR Lazio and finally build a regional archive of good replicable practices, which feeds a culture of wide-ranging humanization.
