Jacopo Murzi is the new CEO of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Italy

MILANO (ITALPRESS) – Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Italia announces the appointment of Jacopo Murzi as new CEO. Murzi will guide the activities of the Italian organization, consisting of over 1,500 people, between the headquarters of Milan and the establishment of Latina – one of the most innovative production sites in the world – and will direct the strategic direction and growth of the company in the country, strengthening the role of Johnson & Johnson as a reference partner of the health ecosystem.

With a twenty-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, Jacopo Murzi brings with it an international experience gained in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, combined with a deep knowledge of the Italian health and regulatory environment. After a strategic consulting experience, from 2005 to 2020, Murzi held positions of increasing responsibility in Johnson & Johnson, first in Marketing and Sales functions in Italy, then as Managing Director for Romania, Near East, Maghreb and Africa, and finally as Disease Area Stronghold Leader for Infectious Diseases within the Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) in the United States. More recently, he founded the Italian branch of Moderna, taking over the role of General Manager for Italy and Switzerland and consolidating solid partnerships with healthcare institutions and authorities. Previously, he served as General Manager of Alfasigma Italy.

“I am deeply happy to return to Johnson & Johnson, a company that I consider a real professional and personal home. This moment of great innovation in the areas of onco-ematology and immunology is an extraordinary opportunity for growth and contribution. It is an honor to be able to lead a team of excellence like that of Innovative Medicine Italy, continuing the path of acceleration and development initiated by Mario Sturion, to which I address a heartfelt thanks for the leadership, vision and support he has been able to convey to the whole organization. In this phase of transformation of the health system, our commitment will be to collaborate every day with the institutions and with all the actors of the system to translate science into concrete value for patients and for the country”, comments Jacopo Murzi.

Jacopo Murzi graduated in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and obtained an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management. He speaks fluently Italian, English, French and Romanian. Outside of work, he loves to spend time with the family, devoting himself to sports, hiking and travel. Jacopo succeeds Mario Sturion, who is appointed Vice President of J&J Innovative Medicine in Latin America.

“I want to thank all those with whom I have worked in Italy these years, guiding the company at a time of great transformation. I am proud of our commitment and work that we have done together to have an impact on the lives of so many patients – said Mario Sturion -. Congratulations to Jacopo for the new appointment. I am sure that its many years of international experience and leadership roles in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be a key resource to further strengthen our mission of innovation at the service of patients in the country.”.
