ROMA (ITALPRESS) – From 1 January to 30 August 2026 the national surveillance system ISS are 227 confirmed cases of Dengue, of which 3 are identified as autochthonous (2 with exposure in the Puglia Region and 1 in the Tuscany Region). This is the latest update of the dedicated dashboard, which for Dengue today becomes weekly. All other reported Dengue cases are associated with foreign travel (57% cases with Maldives exposure location), while no death occurs.
With regard to the West Nile virus, the sixth weekly bulletin registers at the beginning of surveillance on 2 September 521 confirmed cases of human infection (432 in the previous report), of which 269 manifested themselves in the neuroinvasive form (of which 4 cases imported: 1 Maldives, 1 France, 1 Belgium and 1 Greece), 70 asymptomatic cases identified blood indoners, 179 cases of Fa fever (1 case imported from other 26 deaths were notified between confirmed cases, one of which was imported. Lethalness, calculated on autochthonous neuro-invasive forms, is now reported and confirmed, is 9.4% (in the same period of 2025, 14.6%). At 75 the provinces with demonstrated circulation of the WNV belonging to 19 Regions (the last bulletin were 66 provinces in 17 regions). Last year in the same period were 502 cases reported with 33 deaths. In the same period 10 cases of Usutu virus were reported (6 Lombardy, 1 Emilia-Romagna, 1 Marche, 1 Lazio, 1 Piemonte).
