How was the early opening of New York Fashion Week

The New York Fashion Week inaugurates – as usual – the international fashion calendar, opening the month that will bring the Autumn-Winter collections 2026/27 before London, then to Milan and finally to Paris. Among parades, presentations and high-profile appearances in the front row, New York focuses the first aesthetic and commercial indications of the season. Also this year some brands chose to move out of the official calendar, anticipating the formal start of the week with some autonomous events.

Among them was Marc Jacobs. At his early presentation, in the front row, the faces of Julia Fox, Nicky Hilton and Mary Leest were spotted. Fox pointed on clear platformers and structured silhouettes, while Hilton chose a dress decorated with some bows; Leest opted for a total black interrupted by contrasting details.

The opening of the week was then left, as often happens, to Ralph Lauren and his presentation of the collection on the eve of the official start of the official calendar in the Clock Tower Building, a historic nineteenth-century building in Lower Manhattan. The Clock Tower Building is a space linked to the architectural memory of the city, now home to the Jack Shainman Gallery, which framed the proposal of Ralph Lauren built on some historical reference: on the catwalk they alternated structured collars, sartorial jackets and knee boots with almost military footprint.

With the new collection, Ralph Lauren clashes the eye to the Renaissance France of Diane de Poitiers and Giovanna d’Arco, remaining however current and consistent with the flair of his brand: equestrian suggestions, a calibrated use of materials (tweed Donegal, jacquard, velvets, embroidered silks and shearling). Some look evoked true and proper lightened armours of medieval mold, translated into metallic fabrics modeled on the bust: a “Cloud Pragmatism with a strong emotional content”, the designer explained.

On the catwalk opened Bella Hadid; among the guests in the front row Anne Hathaway, Lana Del Rey, Ariana DeBose, Lili Reinhart and Emilia Jones. For the brand, the moment is favorable: it has in mind several positive financial results and enjoys the renewed international visibility thanks also to the uniforms made for the American team at the Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina 2026.
