Health, free way to the Pandemic Plan 2025-2029

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The State-Regions Conference today gave way to the new Pandemic Plan 2025-2029. “The approval of the new Plan is an important political, technical and institutional result and a crucial step towards strengthening and strengthening our healthcare and institutional system,” says Health Minister Orazio Schillaci. The Plan approved today, compared to the previous 2021-2023, has a five-year duration and defines a methodological approach that can be applied to pandemics with different epidemiological characteristics in terms of transmissibility, pathogenicity and impact on health and health services. The Plan presents a programme innovation both in the approach and in the definition of actions: it is the first unitary strategy of preparation and response to potential respiratory transmission pandemics, and is not only aimed at individual pathogens. The document was prepared with the contribution of the national institutions, the Regions and experts. “The Plan is based on a clear principle: ensuring security, transparency and coordination between all institutional levels. The continuous dialogue between the Government and the Regions was based on a common goal: the protection of citizens and public health. The government – adds Schillaci – has allocated over 1.1 billion euros to boost prevention, laboratory capacity and strategic stocks, consolidating the coordination between national and territorial level”. The Plan aims to ensure “a timely and coordinated response between national and territorial level to protect health of citizens and health professionals by introducing a set of innovations – explains the ministry in a note – digitization of epidemiological monitoring systems, advanced use of data for prevention, strengthening surveillance platforms and development of flexible and adaptive protocols. These solutions will allow a faster, more effective and targeted response in case of future emergency. The document introduces planning for operational phases, with defined actions and clear responsibilities.”.
