ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The European Union is, together with the transatlantic relationship, one of the cornerstones of the foreign policy of this government: from Europe comes the security and well-being of our citizens, if anyone thinks that it is possible to respond alone to challenges such as Russian aggression in Ukraine, hybrid threats, terrorism and return of protectionism illudes.” So the deputypremier and foreign minister Antonio Tajani during the question time at the Chamber. “We are proud of the path made here in a European Union based on peace, freedom, democracy and the rule of law, but it is clear to all that today Europe is in the midst of the guado and cannot be incisive as it should. It is necessary – he added – a qualitative leap, to be again motor of growth and competitiveness for citizens and enterprises”.
For Tajani “it also serves a European industrial policy to avoid the desertification of our productive fabric, as well as a lowering of energy costs, a strengthening of the single market and a process of bureaucratic simplification; on this we have a continuous dialogue with Brussels. Europe must take responsibility in foreign policy and implement the European pillar of NATO, with a view to European defence: We cannot stop at a debate, sometimes instrumental, on the decision-making mechanisms, on which we will have a way and time for a thorough reflection; at the moment I am not on the agenda for the government. Italy is increasingly listened to in Brussels, thanks to the stability and seriousness of our policies.”.
