The Ambassador of Italy in the United States, Marco Peronaci, concluded yesterday an articulated mission in the West Coast, which began last week in San Francisco and continued in the last days in Los Angeles.
“California is a strategic partner for Italy and the goal of my mission was to give further impetus to collaboration on innovation, energy transition, sustainability, scientific research and development of advanced chains,” commented the Ambassador. “The entire Italian System works to strengthen dialogue with the richest and most populous state in the United States to attract new investments in our country, develop industrial partnerships and support the internationalization of Italian companies. ”
Assisted by Consul General in San Francisco, Massimo Carnelos, Ambassador Peronaci had a series of commitments together with the President of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca, on an official visit to California in the same days. In particular, the meeting in Sacramento with the Governor of California Gavin Newsom, and with the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie. Peronaci and Rocca also participated in the event “From Rome to Silicon Valley” organized by Innovit, aimed at strengthening the links between Californian and Lazio companies in the key areas of technology, innovation and ecological transition. Particularly important was the inauguration of the exhibition on the Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy” organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (FAMSF), the largest and most complete ever dedicated to Etruscan civilization in the United States.
Together with our Consul General in Los Angeles, Raffaella Valentini, Peronaci participated in a ceremony in his honor organized by the City Council of Los Angeles, during which the strong bond between Italy and the entire Southern California was valued. The intense program continued with visits, among others, to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, an architectural jewel designed by Renzo Piano that houses important pages of Italian film history, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the California Institute of Technology.
Both in San Francisco and in Los Angeles, the Ambassador has had several meetings with qualified representatives of the Italian and Italian-American community active in California, with particular attention to entrepreneurs and operators of the economic world, as well as scientists and professors included with apical roles in the most prestigious and important Californian scientific institutions.
The Ambassador finally met his staff at the Italian Consulate General of San Francisco and at that of Los Angeles, as well as the ITA-Agenzia Office and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles. To them he expressed his appreciation and thanks for the work done every day by the different joints of the Italian System to the service of the growing Italian community, as well as for the delicate and crucial promotion of our Country in a competitive and crucial state like California.
