ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, has signed the ministerial decrees of reorganization of university education in Nursing, which review the articulation of graduate courses, strengthen basic training and introduce specific master’s degree courses dedicated to specialization. The aim is to respond to the shortage of nursing staff, in particular generalist profiles, and to adapt training to the evolution of the National Health Service (SSN). Among the new measures, the introduction of two new training courses in strategic areas for the SSN: Nursing in primary care and family and community care and nursing in intensive care and emergency. In parallel, it is confirmed as a distinct path the master’s address with a managerial character of the obstetric sciences, dedicated to the formation of profiles with organizational and managerial functions.
In addition, training objectives and access criteria for the health profession of paediatric nurses are reviewed, which will take place through a specialist master’s degree – Nursing in infant and pediatric care – following the qualification as a nurse, thus allowing the profession of basic nurses to be exercised. A transitional period is envisaged for students already enrolled during which universities will ensure the completion of training courses in pediatric nursing up to the academic year 2027/2028, with full recognition and expensability of the qualifications obtained. The revision is the result of the works of the Technical Table on Nursing, established in 2023, which involved the Ministry of University and Research, the Ministry of Health, the National Federation Orders of Nursing Professions, the National University Council (CUN), the Evaluation Agency of the University and Research System (ANVUR) and the Permanent Conference of Health Professions. The measure has been acquired the favourable opinion of the Conference of Rectors of the Italian-CRUI Universities.
