Artificial intelligence, Fontana “It is necessary to educate for responsible use”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The risk is not the use of artificial intelligence, but its unconscious use. In the absence of a solid digital education, one could rely on the algorithm without exercising that critical spirit essential for taking informed and conscious decisions. For this reason it is necessary to educate the responsible use of these systems, guaranteeing to all, and especially to the new generations, knowledge and appropriate skills. Promoting them also means fighting a cause of exclusion and disparity.” This was said by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, at the opening of the conference “Education at AI or educate AI?” in Montecitorio.

“At the same time it is necessary to prepare our boys in the world of work – said Fontana -, who will be increasingly dominated by technology. On the other hand, artificial intelligence can help significantly increase the competitiveness of the country, increasing productivity and ensuring rational use of resources. Far from becoming our substitute, it must therefore maintain its nature as an instrument intended to serve man and to strengthen his abilities. In this perspective it is essential to focus the person, enhancing and supporting human skills through educational and training programs updated to the new required profiles. Training should and should accompany the individual throughout his life. The real challenge is therefore not if artificial intelligence will change our future, but if we are able to govern this change by always focusing on the person.”.
