Art and culture fundamental for well-being, the idea of the Artom Cenacle

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Not a luxury, not a simple treatment: art and culture are fundamental for well-being, because they nourish the mind, strengthen social relationships and contribute to building a sense of identity and belonging. From a psychological point of view, the artistic experience stimulates deep emotions and promotes the elaboration of personal experiences: and the budget is positive in the face of any experience in this area, from visiting an exhibition to listening to a concert, reading a novel or participating in a laboratory.

Art offers a symbolic space in which to recognize fears, desires, fragility and hopes: this process can reduce stress, improve mood and sustain resilience in difficult times; it increasingly demonstrates international scientific literature, which relates cultural enjoyment to measurable health benefits. Data to the hand, those who visit penacoteche, go to the theatre and participate in festivals are usually less depressed, longer and has better cognitive functions than those who do not have these habits.

“The idea of the Cenacolo Artom was born for a coincidence: during Expo 2015 a great friend of mine, Fiorenza Locatelli Latta, asked me to organize something at his home, one of the most beautiful living rooms in Milan; at that same time, given my work alongside the business area of the companies, the American component asked me to organize a meeting with the new ambassador of the United States that would come as a general console in Milan,”.

“I had just finished reading a book by Giorgio Bocca on Milan in the 1960s, a cultural forge that put together publishers, artists and architects, and decided to invite both entrepreneurs and artists: among them were Mario Lavezzi, Davide Rampello, Mario Bellini and it was a great success, because we all presented to the ambassador and he the next day thanked me with a text, congratulating himself for the stories he had listened. The first aspect of Artom is the relationship with the Lombard capital, consolidated over time: “I am from Turin, I studied Engineering and came to Milan for a six-month internship: I stayed 37 years. My first job was in the insurance field, behind Piazza Scala: when I entered the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II it was as if all the energy of the city was returned to me. The Artom Cenacle has become an artisanal format, because all the artists come to me as friends: after ten years and over 440 editions I also had the honour of being able to do the tedophorus for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, starting obviously from the Upper Room and passing the current Magenta torch”.

As for art, he tells the creator of the Artom Cenacle, “I discovered it late, at 50 years: it is a fundamental platform also for entrepreneurs, because it opens the world and anticipates trends. An entrepreneur can no longer remain closed in his factory from 7 to 19, but he must open himself to the world: with Art Basel, which is held and is the most important contemporary art fair, I met in London the former general manager who invited me to Basel; it is not only a platform of art to collect, but a set of people with an incredible energy. At Cenacolo I try to invite people who tell stories of success, with a unique mix of talent and fortune, but also many boys: among the figures that struck me particularly there was a young tenor, to which I brought fortune because he debuted at La Scala last year and now it is in the most important theatres of the world”.

From the relationship with art you pass to the one with beauty, in particular the one that can be found around Milan: this, according to Artom, “it counts a lot and affects the quality of life: every time I step from Piazza Sant’Ambrogio, that after the restoration has become one of the most beautiful squares of Italy, I feel excited. Milan has always been the city that connects the knots: its essence is full contamination, it is necessary to give artists the opportunity to come here and continue to create. At the beginning of 2026 between Olympics, Bits and Fair of Tourism all worked very well: the real theme is the cost of accommodation for students, I hope that you can come to calmed rentals and offer more students”.

The last reflection is on the prospects of the Upper Room, in a path that combines tradition and innovation: “We have recently simulated an artist of the past with artificial intelligence: as far as I am concerned, however, form that wins does not change, I have no rules but hope to continue like this. The emotions of the people around me make me excite: the essence of the project is friendship, creativity and connection between people who do not know and come from different sectors.”.
