ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Italian Government and the European Commission have reached a common understanding of the measures envisaged by the Dl Bollette (decreto-law 21/2026), in full compliance with the Middle East State Aid Framework (Metsaf) and sectoral legislation. This is followed by intensive and constructive exchanges between the Commission’s services and the Italian authorities, with the common objective of reducing the impact of energy costs and limiting the effect of the increase in gas prices on the electricity price for households and enterprises, while preserving the parity of conditions in the internal market minimizing distortions. On this basis, Italy will notify the Commission of temporary measures in accordance with EU rules on State aid and the Commission will assess them in priority.
“We closed the negotiations with the European Commission on the bills, measures which had approved time ago but which needed an ok: a long but constructive negotiation, and which is very important because it allows us to intervene to lower the bills.” Mr Giorgia Meloni said that he was speaking on the edge of the European Council in Brussels. “I am very happy with this result and I am very optimistic about the demands on greater flexibility to address the complex situation that everyone is facing – he added –. We have noticed significant progress, I think there is greater flexibility. On this issue Italy has been very determined and is not alone.”.
