ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The new edition of Rome heart was held in Rome, where Professor Gualdi was moderator of a session on images that highlighted the progress of echocardiography and magnetic resonance and especially of the TAC coronarography. As for echocardiography, artificial intelligence is transforming it, but it has not yet revealed all mysteries of the heart. The real revolution consists in discovering signals that we do not yet fully interpret. Some mysteries remain the discordance between parameters, subclinical dysfunction, the biological meaning of patterns and the generalized. Artificial intelligence is therefore transforming echocardio but has not yet unveiled all mysteries of the heart for now is a support tool, integration with the clinic and the judgment of the cardiologist remain essential. The end is to discover the signals that we do not yet fully interpret. With regard to cardio CT, this is a very important topic of preventive cardiology, especially in asymptomatic patients. The answer is not indicated routinely in all asymptomatic people but can be appropriate in selected situations based on cardiovascular risk and clinical demand. The cardio TC can discover silent plaques but it is not proven that indiscriminately subjecting healthy people at low risk reduces, heart attacks and mortality. True progress is not tac to all, but to identify who can benefit from it and use the results to improve prevention. It is the relationship between early diagnosis, increased prevention and clinical benefits that makes this field so important. On the other hand it is known that risk factors predict the probability of having coronary atherosclerosis. Calcium Score detects only calcifications or conclaimed coronary disease. The TC coronarography detects and quantifies the plaque, also identifying vulnerable plaques. Artificial intelligence will make plaque quantification even more accurate. It is obvious that now it is not possible to make mass screening with a technique that uses ionizing radiation and a half contrast. But over the years it has reduced both the dose of radiation delivered and the amount of medium administered in a TAC coronarography, in fact 50 CC of contrast medium can not produce kidney damage. We expect from artificial intelligence further advances in the evaluation and quantification of the coronary plate.– photo screenshot from the event brochure Roma Cuore –(ITALPRESS).
