ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Wars, famines and food insecurity, 130 events, 38 locations: the Diplomacy Festival lights the spotlight on global emergencies. The 17th edition, “What’s next? Running on the Edge”, scheduled from 22-30 October, brings together institutional, scientific, academic, cultural worlds to maintain open spaces of comparison.
“It will be the most beautiful and rich edition ever, about 120 events in 38 locations in the city of Rome, 8 universities participating in our works, we have so many residences and embassies that open to the public and above all we will have debates that have a strong connotation on what is the future” said Giorgio Bartolomucci, Secretary General of the Festival of Diplomacy “what will happen, what will wait for us, and we hope that from the debates can come of politics”.
The Festival confirms itself, also this year, as an authoritative platform through which to discuss not only the future of our nation and Europe, but also international balances. “This Festival, over time, has become an extraordinary platform of embassies, companies, universities, institutions, young people,” explained Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, president of the Scientific Committee “the title of this edition is ‘what comes after’, and’ what we all ask ourselves, we live in a turbulent age, we lack references, it is normal to ask and reflect and what is best to reflect in a diplomatic context. Reflection must be coral.”.
The Festival aims to build moments of confrontation to share ideas and organize sessions useful to address, among others, the following strategic axes: Energy as a tool for geopolitical stability; Security of infrastructure in the new international context; Latin America, Africa and the Mediterranean as areas of cooperation; European common defence; Technology, digitization and artificial intelligence applied to global systems.
“In an increasingly polarized world between liberal autocracy and democracies, with the autocracies that threaten the solidity of our democracies it is important to have an increasingly strong European Union, increasingly less recapable, therefore autonomous and independent,” concluded Carlo Corazza, head of the European Parliament Office in Italy.
The consul Pietro De Martin, head of Uap-Maeci recalled that “The Festival of Diplomacy is a precious place of confrontation on the great global challenges and actively involves the wide diplomatic community of Rome and also the great audience of experts and students of the articulated academic and research world of the city. UAP is proud to be at his side, because he believes that dialogue, always to be cultivated with patience, inclusiveness and acumen, is the first resource to build the future.”.
