“Artificial intelligence offers extraordinary possibilities, can increase our capabilities, can help us know, prevent and protect. But every great innovation also brings risks – continues – the same technologies can be used for illicit purposes, to attack our infrastructure and manipulate information, hit our institutions and, more deeply, question some of the fundamental values on which our societies are founded: freedom, democracy, security of people. This is why we must invest in technology, but above all in skills and ability to work together. The point, therefore, is not to be afraid of technology, the point is to know how to use and make sure that artificial intelligence and new technologies are tools of progress, security and freedom and not tools in the hands of those who want to eliminate our societies, it is a responsibility that concerns all of us,” he concludes.
