ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We are, in this government, on the side of law enforcement. But it’s not like we decide what the judiciary does. I say to all the magistrates who decide on the arrests that it is true that there is a problem of full prisons, but we must also give signals that guarantee the citizens the fact that the ceffi cannot act unpunished. Hit one to educate one hundred: I think it serves and that even some magistrates should put their hand on conscience.” So the vice-premier and foreign minister Antonio Tajani, on the margin of his visit to the Village of Legality, in Rome, responded to a town that demanded more security in the villages. Words on which Tajani returned to a social post. “The citizens have a sacred right to security. As happened in Turin, too many people arrested in scourgency of crime are immediately remitted freely by pardonist magistrates – the vicepremier explains. This creates social alarm and demotive police and carabinieri. It is enough to talk to law enforcement forces and those who live in high-density criminal neighborhoods to understand what I mean. I never asked to disapply the law, but rather to apply it in full.”.
“And I asked the magistrates to put a hand on the conscience every time they choose to release who was caught on the fact and, once free, is ready to reiterate the crime. The perception of impunity only helps the mischiefs. Invoking the rule of law with the arrested in scourgence is therefore instrumental – concludes Tajani -. The rule of law requires no innocent person to end up in jail. Not that those arrested in scourgency can go back to delinqueting the next day.”.
