PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Sharing the skills and experiences gained in the different Italian centers: this is the goal of the National Consensus Meeting promoted by the Italian Society of Cardiaca Surgery (SICCH), which took place today at the Ismett of Palermo and brought together the main Italian experts in the field. “The initiative was promoted by the Italian Society of Cardiaca Surgery which, in the context of the complexity of our discipline, recognizes in cardiac transplantation the maximum level of complexity: the interaction between different professional figures and between the different moments that characterize the finalization of a heart transplant,” said Michele Pilato, president of the SICCH. “It is a reason for us to have all the representatives of the national transplant centres here in Palermo, which perform excellent work.” Italy, Pilate points out, is among the European countries with the best survival results at a distance after heart transplantation. “We have gathered adult transplantation experts and pediatric transplantation experts – he adds – who will discuss to define treatment protocols and try to standardize patient treatment.” The comparison therefore involves the professionals of the different Italian transplant centers, with the aim of transforming the heritage of experiences gained in the individual centers into a common reference for clinical practice. “Today is an important day – says Emanuela Angeli, director of the Pediatric Cardiosurgery of the IRCCCS of Bologna –.
