“We live a historical phase of particular criticality, unforeseen until a few years ago, marked by the aggravation of conflict that increasingly frequently produce painful conflicts with innocent victims and devastation. We hope this is a phase that ends as soon as possible. The defence, in order to guarantee peace, must necessarily be based on a military instrument that is technologically advanced, that is cohesive and integrated in the field of resources at national level, that is interoperable with our allies and partners. In a European framework that allows synergies, economies of scale and better capacity,” Mattarella continued. “In the centre of everything remains the human person, the soldier, with human warmth, courage, sense of duty, the spirit of sacrifice that animates all your actions that assures authentic force to the military instrument in our country,” he concluded.
