Urso “A social card for gasoline? To the study selective measures”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Concerning carburetors, in order to overcome the excise knot and make structural aid, they are at the study “Selective measures, first of all for the benefit of those who move for work and the less affluent classes. In addition to the chain of the road haulage we have preserved with the tax credit, thus limiting the inflating impact. The growth of consumer and business confidence also in August confirms that we are on the right path.” So, in an interview with the Newspaper, the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, answering the question whether the government is thinking of using social card.
Remaining on mobility, in the first six months of 2026 auto registrations rose almost 11%, “the strongest signal comes from production – the Minister explains. In the first six months it has grown of 13.4%, about 302,000 units, that of the only cars of 26.1% to 167.367 units. While in Germany and other countries announce the closure of factories and the dismissal of hundreds of thousands of workers. We must now complete the revision of the European rules, imposing the principle of technological neutrality and Made in Europe. At the national level, the automotive plan with development contracts adapted to the size of SMEs is in operation to support the relaunch of components”. And to the question if the arrival of a Chinese producer is forever dismantled, he answers: “Affatto, indeed. We’re in the decisive phase. Obviously to produce and not to assemble. We have always been clear, since MOU signed in 2024: in Italy doors open to those who use our components”.
On the Dossier Ilva, we are on the eve of the table at Palazzo Chigi. Does the government consider the interest of the Italian rope? “The evaluation – comments Urso – is up to the extraordinary commissioners and the criteria are known: production continuity, employment keeping, decarbonization of the site. At present there are two binding proposals, to which two manifestations of interest have been added, including that presented by Federacciai with 14 companies: another important signal of the renewed vitality of our steel companies. Moreover confirmed by the production growth: in June +6,1% on an annual basis. And, always with regard to the sector, I hope also the acquisition of Sanac and Piedmontese CNL by Italian companies is concluded positively.”
On data centers, there is a potential conflict between the extraordinary regulatory instruments designed by the government and the regional laws already launched, such as that of Lombardy? “No conflict – declares the Minister –, full and loyal collaboration with all the Regions. The national procedures that have covered data centers in Lombardy fully correspond to the criteria of the new regional law: reuse of the abandoned areas and containment of land consumption, energy from renewable sources and protection of the water resource”.
Confindustria preme to change the European ETS mechanism. What can the government do at EU level? Which countries are you in tune with? “We have reached a blocking minority and have no intention of abandoning – Urso emphasizes – with us there are Poland, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. The revision must be substantial, in order to recover competitiveness in the global challenge: a radical revision of the parameters with which free quotas are assigned, a more realistic horizon than 2039 and 2034 for the areas covered by CBAM, a serious reflection on ETS2 before 2028. We will not be satisfied with half measures.”
And on the Electrolux dispute, he says: “In six years in Europe, 25 plants have been closed. This is why we have opened the European front, with a ‘non-paper’ also signed by Germany, France and Poland, which calls on the Commission to recognize the electrodomestic as a sector. While we asked a companyplan of relaunch that safeguards the plants and protect the workers”.
