The Meeting of Rimini is preparing to welcome Pope Leo XIV

RIMINI (ITALPRESS) – It will be an afternoon entirely dedicated to the visit of Pope Leo XIV that of tomorrow, Saturday 22 August, at the Meeting of Rimini. The Holy Father will arrive at the Fair around 14.45 and, before his intervention in the Grand Auditorium B7-D7 scheduled for 16.00, will cross the halls meeting the people of the Meeting, will visit in private form two exhibitions and will stop at the Villaggio Ragazzi.

The Fair will open at 10.30. To allow everyone to participate in the visit, from 14.00 to 18.00 will be suspended the main activities of the Meeting: conferences, exhibitions, Villaggio Ragazzi and Sport Village. The stands of exhibitors and catering areas will remain accessible. The meetings and conferences will resume from 19.30 and all evening appointments are confirmed. The helicopter of Pope Leo XIV is expected at 14.45 at the helipad of the Fiera di Rimini. The Pope will be welcomed by the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region Michele De Pascale, the mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad and the bishop mons. Nicolò Anselmi. After the reception, the Pontiff will enter the exhibition area on the west side and begin his path through the pavilions. It will be one of the most significant moments of the visit: the Pope will cross the Fair along a protected and transennate path of about a kilometer, thus offering visitors the opportunity to welcome and greet him.

Everyone will be able to spread freely along the transennes. Just for the length of the route, the invitation is to be distributed in the different pavilions, avoiding to concentrate only near the entrance or the Grand Auditorium. During his journey Pope Leo XIV will visit in private form two exhibitions of the Meeting. The first is “Tardi I loved you, so old and so new beauty – Augustine of Ippona”, set up in Hall C2 and dedicated to the human and spiritual figure and experience of Saint Augustine. Download the exhibition tab. The Holy Father will then visit “Léon Harmel, the prophecy of an enterprise”, in Hall C1. Download the exhibition tab. The visits to the two exhibitions will be private and will be inserted in the path that will lead the Pope to the Villaggio Ragazzi and then to the Grand Auditorium. Pope Leo XIV will then make a short stop at the Villaggio Ragazzi Yoga, Hall B1, for a moment dedicated to children, boys and their families. Access to the Children’s Village will be reserved for children and children up to 14 years accompanied by parents: it will be possible to access also with strollers.

At the end of the Pope’s visit, the large screen in the Children’s Village will be possible to follow live the next intervention in the Grand Auditorium. Around 16.00 is the central moment of the visit to the Meeting: the intervention of Pope Leo XIV in the Grand Auditorium B7-D7. The access to the Grand Auditorium will be allowed exclusively to those already in possession of the relevant pass. For the public the entrance will be possible from 13.30 to 14.45, exclusively through the B0, entrance South – via Emilia 155, following a route prepared outside the Fair. After 14.45, for security reasons, it will no longer be possible to access the room. Waiting for the arrival of the Holy Father, the Grand Auditorium includes songs, readings and moments dedicated to the history of the Meeting. The public can also follow the different stages of the Pope’s visit within the Fair. The intervention will be broadcast live throughout the event. In addition to the rooms already booked – Auditorium Intesa Sanpaolo D3, Sala Neri Generali Cattolica, Sala Conai A2 and Sala Gruppo FS C4 – you can follow it without reservation in Arena Cdo C1, Arena Euresis A7, Arena Internazionale C3 and Arena Tracce A3, as well as from the screens placed in the pavilions.

The visit will also be broadcast in full streaming on the Meeting’s YouTube channel and Vatican channels. From 15.45 there is also a live television commented on Rai Uno. At the end of the intervention, Pope Leo XIV will leave the Fair and his pastoral visit to Rimini will continue with two other appointments. At about 17.30, in the Cathedral Basilica of Rimini, the Holy Father will meet the fragile and sick people. At about 18.30, at the Port of Rimini, Pope Leo XIV will preside the Holy Mass. Both appointments will be broadcast live also in the Grand Auditorium B7-D7, allowing those who participated in the meeting to follow from there the entire program of pastoral visit. To enter the Fiera on Saturday, August 22, there is no need for a specific reservation for the Pope’s visit: the normal access methods apply to the Meeting, with the nominal QR Code generated through the “Meeting Rimini” App. Even those who do not have a place in the rooms are invited to participate: it will be possible to see the Holy Father along his path through the pavilions and follow the entire visit through the large screens prepared throughout the Fair. As the President of the Meeting Bernhard Scholz recalled, the visit will be the first opportunity for Pope Leo XIV to meet the people of the Meeting. This is why the whole event will stop in the afternoon of August 22, leaving space in the presence of the Holy Father and in the words he wishes to deliver to the Meeting.
