NAPOLI (ITALPRESS) – Retract a free alcohol test in the pharmacy before driving and using it to check if you are actually in the safe driving conditions. This is the heart of “Together for Life”, the new campaign promoted by Farmaciste Insieme, which takes the start today in Naples with a pilot project destined to become a replicable model at national level.
The initiative was born with a precise objective: to help spread a culture of prevention and responsibility, offering citizens, and in particular to young people, a simple, immediate and free tool to make a conscious choice before driving
. The summer period is one of the most delicate moments of the year. The increase in travel, nightlife and social opportunities coincides with an increase in road accidents related to alcohol consumption, which continue to be one of the main causes of mortality and serious injuries among young people. Preventing means intervention before the risk becomes tragedy. The campaign goes beyond the free distribution of alcohol tests. Its goal is to promote a cultural change, spreading a greater awareness of the risks associated with driving after alcohol consumption and promoting increasingly responsible behaviour.
The test thus becomes a tool for health education: it helps to understand that the perception of feeling lucid does not necessarily coincide with the suitability of driving. Knowing your own state means being able to make a conscious choice, entrusting the steering wheel to another person or waiting for the time necessary before leaving. Because prevention is not only about knowing the rules, but transforming awareness into behaviors capable of protecting one’s life and that of others. The choice of the pharmacy is not random.
The community pharmacy is one of the main socio-sanitary interests of proximity to the National Health Service: an accessible place, widespread on the territory and founded on a trusted relationship built daily between pharmacist and citizen. It is precisely this closeness that allows you to transform a simple gesture, the withdrawal of an alcohol test, in an occasion of health education, information and promotion of health. For years Farmaciste Together promotes initiatives that combine prevention, social responsibility and protection of public health.
With “Together for Life” the Association expands this commitment by addressing a topic of great social importance such as road safety, in the belief that preventing it also means encouraging conscious behavior. Determining the collaboration of Federfarma Servizi, QFarma and Allinfarma that made possible the distribution of alcohol tests in the adhering pharmacies. Farmaciste Insieme pays special thanks to the Presidents Antonello Mirone (Federfarma Servizi), Vittorino Losio (QFarma) and Pasquale Esposito (Tuttiinfarma) for believing from the beginning in the value of the initiative and favouring its realization.
The adhesion of pharmacies and pharmacists was immediate. The availability demonstrated against the initiative has enabled the number of participating pharmacies to be reached quickly, confirming that the community pharmacies network is ready to put its professionalism in the service of projects capable of generating a concrete impact on health and safety.
In adhering pharmacies, which will exhibit the campaign poster, citizens will be able to withdraw alcohol test free of charge and receive the support and information of the pharmacist, health professional trained to accompany them in a path of greater awareness on the risks related to driving after alcohol consumption. The pilot project involves Naples and province, but the goal of Farmaciste Insieme is to gradually extend the campaign to other Italian regions, building a national network of pharmacies engaged in the promotion of road safety and prevention. “Prevention is really effective when it meets people in the places of their everyday lives.

With “Together for Life” we want to offer the youngest a simple tool but capable of transforming a choice into a gesture of responsibility.
