“To date we had basic doctors and hospitals, which are certainly important but not enough – continues Schillaci, – Today community homes are a third reference in which to find primary care, specialist care, visits to so many non-emergency health needs, nursing services for medicines, therapies, monitoring of parameters, screening, prevention; it will be a more modern health and close to citizens, to give more and more care for people. Let’s go to strengthen the territorial medicine, which was a bit the weak link of the National Health Service especially during the pandemic.”.
“These structures – he explains – will lighten emergencies on one side and on the other the burden on the Doctors of General Medicine. They are a real third leg for health care, which previously lacked: with their multidisciplinary teams they will be a real reference on the territory, as they will take on chronic and fragile patients and lighten the weight that today weighs on hospital structures and pressure on first aid. I think it is important to modernize our health service and go towards a real territorial medicine, that is what citizens want: in particular there is a great weight of elderly and fragile people, who in community homes will find the taking into account that they need to stay better”, the minister concludes.
“We are in line with the Pnrr target: we are closing the administrative part and working with the Regions to close the bureaucratic machine, sending all the documents in time – added Schillaci – There was a great job from all, we used to build a new era of territorial medicine. Citizens will soon notice how public health has changed. Those of community homes are absolutely free services for all citizens: we work with the Regions so that it is possible to have lists on a territorial basis, with all the services they offer.”.
