VICO EQUENSE (NAPOLI) (ITALPRESS) – It was held in Vico Equense, at Le Axidie Resort, the SHRO Gala Dinner 2026, a solidarity event promoted by the Sbarro Health Research Organization to celebrate science and concretely support oncological research. The evening brought together representatives of Italian and international institutions, the scientific, entrepreneurial and cultural world, with the aim of raising funds for new scholarships and research projects in SHRO laboratories in Italy and the United States. On the occasion of the evening 200,000 euros were collected, which will be entirely destined to the activities of the Foundation and to the financing of the formative and scientific path of young researchers. An important result that confirms once again how collaboration between civil society, enterprises and scientific communities can be translated into concrete support for the medicine of the future. Conducted by Lello La Pietra and Teresanna Pugliese, with the artistic direction of Mario Esposito, the evening developed in a succession of institutional moments, testimonies and collective participation. The award ceremony paid tribute to Alfredo Ercoli (ordinary Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Policlinico Tor Vergata in Rome), Andrea Vidali (international reference surgeon for the care of endometriosis and founder of ESSI), Lello Arena (actor, director and screenwriter), Pasqualino Monti (Delegant Terna) and Matteo Salvini (Vice Minister of the Italian Council of Ministers Present on stage the Mayor of the Municipality of Naples Gaetano Manfredi and the politician, journalist and editor Italo Bocchino. The artistic performances of Francesco Cicchella, Mariacristina Lucci and Francesco Maria Mandara have enriched the program of the evening with moments full of talent and emotional intensity. In his speech, Antonio Giordano, oncologist, pathologist and geneticist of international fame, founder and president of SHRO, recalled the value of the achievements achieved in these years underlining how the shared commitment has already allowed to finance scholarships and develop innovative projects in the oncological field. “Today – he says – we can proudly say that, thanks to the support of so many friends, partners, companies and supporters, we have funded dozens of scholarships, supported young researchers and contributed to the development of innovative projects in the oncological field.” “Our goal is not only to cure better, but to help prevent more, building a healthier and conscious society,” said Giordano, focusing on the new development directors of SHRO. On the one hand, the project for the realization of a new Translational Medicine Programme, the first in the world between Philadelphia and NYC with coordination between Rome and Naples, designed to integrate clinical practice and scientific research: “Thanks to this approach we can identify new biomarkers, develop more and more personalized therapies and intervene more effectively on future patients. It is the medicine of tomorrow that we are building today.” On the other hand, the One Health program, oriented to the prevention and study of environmental factors and lifestyles that affect health. During the evening, Giancarlo Arra, Vice-President SHRO, reiterated the strategic value of the network built around research, highlighting how every donation and partnership contributes to transform generosity into concrete opportunities: “Research never lives alone. He needs vision, skills, time, but above all alliances.
