ROMA (ITALPRESS) – UniCredit has completed an operation of Social Impact Leasing of the value of 4 million euros in favor of the Hospital Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola for the acquisition of a radiotherapy platform of the latest generation destined to the treatment of cancer patients. The investment will allow the structure to equip itself with the first state-of-the-art Varian Ethos system in Lazio, one of the most advanced technologies available today in the field of adaptive radiotherapy, and the only installation in Italy equipped with the integrated Varian Identify technology.
The new platform represents an important step forward in the evolution of cancer therapy and precision medicine. Unlike conventional systems, based on defined static planning before the start of treatment, adaptive radiotherapy allows you to adapt the therapy daily to the actual anatomical conditions of the patient.
“With the use of advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence tools, the system is able to analyze images acquired before each session and to recalculate the therapeutic plan based on the actual anatomy of the patient, adapting the treatment to changes that may occur during the treatment path – reads in a note. This approach allows you to increase dosemetric accuracy, improve the protection of healthy organs and tissues, reduce treatment-related toxicities and address even the most complex clinical cases more effectively, contributing to the improvement of patient care outcomes and quality of life. The distinctive feature of the installation will be the presence of Varian Identify technology, now unique in the Italian landscape. The system allows continuous optical monitoring of the patient during the treatment, verifying in real time the correct positioning and further increasing the levels of safety, accuracy and reliability of radiotherapy procedures”.
“The investment is also characterized by an innovative model of technological acquisition. The Hospital Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola has signed an evolutionary contract that will ensure access to all hardware, software and functional developments that will be made available by the manufacturer over the next five years – says UniCredit. This approach will keep the platform constantly aligned with the state of international art, preserving over time the value of investment and ensuring continuous access to the most advanced innovations available in the industry. The operation is part of the broadest path of technological development and clinical innovation of the Hospital Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola, oriented to the diffusion of increasingly personalized, effective and sustainable care models, consistent with the principles of precision medicine and Value Based Healthcare. The implementation of the project also confirms UniCredit’s commitment to supporting initiatives with a high social impact, capable of generating concrete benefits for citizens, the health system and the quality of care, promoting access to the most advanced technologies to support people’s health”.
“This investment allows us to bring in Lazio one of the most advanced radiotherapy platforms available internationally and to offer patients a technology destined to evolve continuously over time – says Giovanni Arcuri, General Manager of the Hospital Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola –. The combination of adaptive radiotherapy, artificial intelligence and advanced optical monitoring represents a further step in the development of an increasingly personalized, precise and curative medicine.”.
“The transaction confirms the strategic role of leasing in supporting technological innovation, further enhanced by the opportunities offered by the tax burden of Hyper-Amortisation – says Salvatore Saulino, CEO of UniCredit Leasing –. UniCredit Leasing expresses great satisfaction for having contributed to the realization of this investment with significant social impact because it favors a wider access to increasingly personalized oncological care with concrete benefits for patients and for the health system as a whole”.
“We are proud to have finalized the operation of Social Impact Leasing in favor of Gemelli Isola which, thanks to the new equipment acquired, will be able to further expand the quality of health care – explains Marianna Plafoni (in the photo), Regional Manager Center UniCredit -. Social impact funding is an additional tool that the bank provides to promote high impact growth for the territory. An answer to the demands of the communities that UniCredit is determined to satisfy, confirming its commitment to an increasingly sustainable development.”.
