MILANO (ITALPRESS) – The ceremony was held today at the Pirelli Hall in Palazzo Pirelli in Milan, the ceremony of delivery of the “Stelle della Donazione” 2026, the recognition promoted by Fondazione Trapianti ETS in the framework of the project dedicated to the structures of the Lombard Regional Health Service that have distinguished themselves for their commitment in promoting the front of the donation of organs and tissues for transplant purposes. The initiative, which is part of a broader project that from this year also involves the NITp interregional system, represents a moment of valorisation of the work carried out daily by professionals, hospital teams and transplant coordination within a system that constitutes one of the excellence of Lombard and national health. To open the works were the institutional greetings of Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region; Laura Chiappa, Directorate General Welfare of the Lombardy Region; Federico Romani, President of the Regional Council of Lombardy; Roberto Anelli and Davide Casati, Regional Councillors of Lombardy. The session dedicated to the state of the art of Lombardy transplant activity has seen the interventions of Marco Sacchi, Head of Procurement of Organi and Tessuti Region Lombardy, and Giuseppe Piccolo, Coordinator Trapianti Region Lombardy, who illustrated the data regarding the activity of withdrawal and transplantation in 2025. Massimo Cardillo, Director S.C. Trapianti Lombardia-NITp, has deepened the future prospects of the North Italy Transplant Program, while Giovanni Sesana, Head of the Regional Bank of Textiles Lombardy Region, has illustrated the experience of the regional skin bank as an example of health and organizational excellence. Marina Morgutti, President of Fondazione Trapianti ETS, has therefore presented the activities of the Foundation and the objectives of the Stella Project, born to promote and disseminate a culture of donation ever more rooted within health structures and civil society. Particularly touching the moment dedicated to the testimonies of the family members of a donor and a transplanted patient. The central moment of the morning, moderated by Leonio Callioni, director of Fondazione Trapianti ETS, was the ceremony of delivery of the “Stelle della Donazione”, led by the vice president of Fondazione Trapianti ETS, Francesca Boldreghini. “Fondazione Trapianti ETS has always been committed to spreading the culture of donation in hospitals and civil society, collaborating with the National Center Trapianti, the NITp, the Regional Coordination, health structures and voluntary associations – said Sergio Vesconi, Scientific Coordinator of the Project -. The assignment of the ‘Stars of Donation is intended to recognize the work, often unseen, of the professionals involved in the path of donation and transplantation, thanks to which thousands of patients can return to life”. The day ended with the moment dedicated to “The common commitment”, which saw the participation of the main associations active in the sector – AIDO, ANED, ADMO and Fondazione Trapianti ETS – witnessing the importance of a stable alliance between institutions, health professionals, third sector and citizens to promote a culture of donation ever more aware and widespread.
