PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – A strategic alliance to bring precision medicine into prevention and assistance paths. The ASP of Palermo signed this morning at Palazzo Steri an agreement of scientific and technological collaboration with the HEAL Italia Foundation, aimed at developing innovative models for the prediction, diagnosis and personal treatment of pathologies, with particular reference to the oncological and chronic diseases. They were the president of the Foundation, Massimo Midiri, and the director of the Health Company, Alberto Firenze, to sign the agreement. The understanding is part of the national program HEAL Italia, which promotes an integrated approach to precision medicine, reporting research, innovation and clinical practice. The agreement provides for research and technological transfer activities, with the creation of pilot projects aimed at preventing pathology and the customization of care paths, also through the advanced analysis of clinical and biological data. “With this agreement – said the Managing Director of the Asp Palermo, Alberto Firenze – we introduce innovative tools that allow to change approach to prevention. Genetic tests allow us to identify in advance the risk of developing certain pathologies, particularly oncological, and to build custom paths for each citizen. It is not only a matter of better care, but to intervene first, with greater precision, offering more adequate and timely answers. It is a perspective that can affect the quality of people’s lives and the organization of health services.” The agreement was signed on the margin of the presentation by the Fondazione HEAL Italia of “Providentia”, National Campaign for awareness raising about the prevention of pathology and health promotion.
