PIANA OF ALBANESI (PALERMO) (ITALPRESS) – More than 5.5 million euros of investments of the PNRR – Mission 6 Health to form a network of assistance ever closer to citizens. With the inauguration of the Community Hospital of Piana degli Albanesi and the context activation of seven Houses of Community, the ASP of Palermo takes a new step in the organization of territorial health services. At the ceremony in Piana degli Albanesi, among others, the Regional Councillor of Health, Daniela Faraoni, the Director General of the ASP of Palermo, Alberto Firenze, the Health Director, Antonino Levita and the Administrative Director, Ignazio Del Campo. The Mayor, Rosario Petta, and the Bishop of the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi, Monsignor Raffaele De Angelis. “We are building – said the Councillor Faraoni – an organized network of services increasingly widespread throughout the territory. As provided for in the planning of the PNRR, we provide citizens with an articulated system of Community Houses and Hospitals of the Community, so that everyone can find, near their home, the most appropriate response to their health needs, avoiding resorting to hospitals when it is not necessary. Today is also a symbolic moment: it is the satisfaction of those who, in these years, have worked to make these structures concrete. Our Region is demonstrating, with the facts, the ability to build health closer to citizens and more efficient.” After the experimental structure started in 2024 in Petralia Sottana, that of Piana degli Albanesi is the second community hospital activated by the ASP of Palermo. The building, spread over about 6,000 square meters, develops on several levels and focuses on the first floor the heart of the welfare activity: 19 beds, distributed in 9 double rooms and a single, functional rooms and a relaxation room dedicated to family members, together with the spaces for health care staff. The organizational model is completed by a large common area on the second floor, with kitchen and dining area, while on the ground floor there are shared services, including administrative offices and gym. The basement floor houses the technical and support premises. In the same building there is also an RSA with 20 beds for not self-sufficient. The restructuring and adjustment involved an investment of €1,194,909. “These structures – underlines the Director-General of the ASP in Palermo, Alberto Firenze – represent a concrete change in how to organize health care. The Community Hospital allows appropriate management of patients who do not need acute hospitalization, while the Community Houses become the first point of reference for citizens. We are building a network capable of integrating health services, territorial assistance and continuous loading, improving accessibility and ensuring faster and more effective responses to health needs.” At the opening of the Community Hospital seven Community Houses, six Spoke type and one Hub (Misilmeri), were distributed in a capillary way on the territory.
