The General Secretariat of the Italian General Council, Maria Chiara Prodi, and the President of the Fondazione Museo Nazionale dell’Emigrazione Italiana, Paolo Masini, signed a memorandum of understanding to the Farnesina to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement, signed at the meeting of the Presidency Committee, provides for the development of joint initiatives for the protection, enhancement and dissemination of historical, documentary and iconographic heritage of Italian emigration. In the centre also the collaboration in the fields of historical-scientific research and museumography, as well as the exchange of skills to promote activities dedicated to the history and topicality of the Italian diaspora.
Among the objectives of the agreement are also the realization of school-work training projects, both in the presence and remotely, and the valorization of the role of Italian representations abroad.
As a result of the signing, a first operational meeting was held during which priority projects were identified on which to start collaboration.
“From sports cooperatives created by Italians around the world to the successes and stories of Italian representation in the world, passing through the common goal of offering Italian students a lot of reading keys to understand emigration how many are the stories of individuals and past and present communities: the projects on which we have committed ourselves today give immediate operationality to the signed agreement.” This is what the General Secretariat of CGIE Maria Chiara Prodi declared.
“We are convinced that emigration is the largest popular and collective narrative in our country – MEI Paolo Masini Foundation president said. A narrative that is rooted in the past and that at the same time speaks to us about the present. The General Council of Italians in the East through its representatives is a vital sap on this shared path.”.
