MILbbie (ITALPRESS) – The Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, in an interview with the National Newspapers, excluded a new general cut of excise duties on fuels, announcing instead “ targeted compensatory interventions” that could already arrive at the next Council of Ministers “The cut of excise cost to the State about one billion per month and did not reach the goal”, explained Urso.
The Minister pointed out that the current price of gasoline (1.83 euro/liter) is clearly less than 2,25 euro/liter that had prompted the Draghi government to intervene. Thanks to the monitoring system introduced in 2023, inflation fell from 12.6% at the end of 2022 to 1.1% for 2024. The new supports will be specifically intended for poorer families, road haulage and businesses. On the political front, Urso harshly criticized oppositions (with the exception of Carlo Calenda) for defecting the table on the geopolitical and energy emergency: “He prevailed the electoral interest,” he said, complaining of the lack of that “sensus of responsibility” that Brothers of Italy manifested, despite being in opposition, during the crisis of Kabul and Ukraine.
In this regard, the Minister recalled a personal anecdote dating back to the fall of Kabul, when, as president of Copasir and just operated on the vocal chords, he left the hospital to preside over an audition by only communicating in writing to ensure national cohesion. Urso finally reiterated the government’s line on foreign policy, recalling his trip to Kiev during the last election campaign to guarantee Zelensky the continuity of Italian commitments.
