ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, today had a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The interview allowed a thorough exchange of views on the progress of the process to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and the next steps to be taken, even in the light of the current developments in the Middle East crisis. The two leaders reaffirmed that, especially at this stage, the unity of views between European and American partners is indispensable and the recognition of the European contribution to the peace process, whose outcome touches fundamental European interests and is decisive for the stability and security of the continent.
President Zelensky took the opportunity to thank Italy again for sending emergency supplies to support the Ukrainian energy sector. In conclusion, the President of the Council renewed Italy’s closeness to the Ukrainian nation, ensuring that Italy will play a leading role in the country’s reconstruction process.
