Schlossberg was the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, former ambassador of the United States in Japan and Australia, and Edwin Schlossberg, artist and designer. After graduating in Yale and a master’s degree in Oxford, he began working as a journalist dealing with science, climate and environment. He collaborated with the New York Times and with other U.S. newspapers, focusing in particular on the environmental impact of everyday behaviour and individual responsibility for the climate crisis.

In 2019 he published the essay Inconspicuous Consumption, in which he analyzed the environmental weight of choices often considered marginal, such as the use of digital services or food habits. The book had received awards in the world of environmental disclosure and made it a voice recognized in the public debate on climate.

Last November, Schlossberg published the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia with a rare mutation, a blood tumor and bone marrow. The disease was discovered in May 2024, shortly after the birth of his second daughter. In a long article published on the New Yorker had told the path of the disease, the therapies addressed and the limited perspectives indicated by doctors. In the text he also expressed criticism of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his cousin and health secretary, for his positions on health policy and vaccines, considered by her harmful to medical research and cancer patients, writing that “the survival of many patients directly depends on political decisions that seem abstract only to those who are not sick”.

Schlossberg leaves her husband, George Moran, and the two children; in addition to her parents, her brothers, Rose and Jack Schlossberg survived. The publication of the news of his death aroused condolences both within the family and in the American journalistic and political community.
