Health crisis, Aurigemma “Regions are at the heart of European strategies”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “As rapporteur on the opinion on the strategy proposed by the European Commission on medical countermeasures, I think it is very useful today’s debate in Brussels, at the European Committee of the Regions, with stakeholders. The theme is very delicate: we must not find ourselves unprepared in the face of any health crisis in the future. The pillars on which to point are surely: research, production and responsiveness. And then, it is essential to put regions and territories at the centre of European strategies.” Thus the Coordinator of the Conference of Presidents of Legislative Assembly of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, and President of the Regional Council of Lazio, Antonello Aurigemma, who adds: “During the confrontation with stakeholders, he also reflected on the importance of strengthening health and the territorial network. We have to work to get out of the ospedalocentric logic and then try to implement assistance on the territory. To achieve these goals, a just synergy is important among all the protagonist actors (healthcare companies, doctors, health professions, pharmacies, associations, volunteers). Through innovation, then, you can implement home care, just think about telemedicine. In this way, you could also reduce access to the first aid of our hospitals: ps in fact are places to go in emergency cases, instead too often there are inappropriate access. It is therefore appropriate to change paradigm, to better address the challenges of the future, also focusing on prevention (which allows early and timely diagnosis), research and innovation”.
