Strange killers

Young people, out of the rules, from speed to alcohol test results, and the umpteenth tragedy of the weekend, a few days before that of Rome.

This time of scene is Milan, via Fulvio Testi, the victim is just 19 years old, the investigations have to clarify many more things, but there are few doubts that the Suv rented violently collided at a crossroads with an Opel Corsa certainly did not go within the limits of the 50 km timetable previewed at that point. I repeat, the investigation is in progress, the case for its gravity is followed with great media attention, but many are still doubts and therefore we avoid saying and giving inaccurate details.

Moreover ours, for our newspaper, is not and does not want to be a piece of news, but a reflection on a piece of life (and alas of death) of our country. For many years I have been dealing with the madness that happens on our roads, I have been in time to see many slogans, from Saturday night massacres to battles on road murder. In the midst of many stories, so many sad interviews, often to family members who have lost their children too young to be gone. And how many courses in schools, how many conferences, how many initiatives to tell young people, and not only, that a car species if powerful guided under the effect of alcohol and/or narcotics can become a bomb, a killer, a privileged way to hell.

But nothing to do, no prevention, media and cultural, and no repression, legal and political, prevents children from avoiding these risks. Why? It is a question that no one can answer in an exhaustive and convincing way. Social malaise, evil of living, extreme models of the Internet, nihilism, absence of the sense of life, loss of the future, brain manipulation, chemistry and metaphysics. The fact is that these tragedies are repeated without pause, a reaction to repeat, a death perennially announced to the Marquez who takes every time different victims. A battle that sees us all engaged.

Meanwhile, we who have chosen this job can do something: Talk about it, point the heads, consciences. Wake up more than you can people increasingly immersed in the great frenetic sleep of our age.
