Thus the President of the Council Giorgia Meloni, in the video message sent to the participants at the first Italofonia Conference in Rome.
“The language of Dante, Leonardo, Michelangelo, of the greatest artists of all time; the language of beautiful song and great opera, recently recognized as an immaterial heritage of humanity; the most famous cuisine in the world, appreciated and valued every day for its excellence and quality. An extraordinarily rich language, both ancient and modern, which launches its cultural mission in every corner of the planet. Because outside the national borders Italian is spoken by more than 80 million people and is confirmed one of the most studied languages in the world, also thanks to the valuable work of promotion that lead the Cultural Institutes and schools abroad”.
“Italian identifies us. Tell us what we are, our history, our lifestyle. And it is thanks to Italian, its beauty and its wealth, if our people have been able to make their way into the world. If they listened to us, it is also thanks to our language, sprouted by the synthesis of classicism and Christianity, made alive in universities, castles, monasteries and the ways of pilgrims. Today we sign a Joint Declaration made of concrete commitments and operational initiatives and lay the foundations of a new Community, to be built and to be fed together. We will be able to count first of all on the energy, passion and sense of belonging of Italians abroad, which always represent Ambassadors in the world of love for our Country, our language, our culture.
