We call to recognize the value of their words, their experiences, their needs as an integral part of the life of our community.” This is the message of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. “Children and children are bearers of fundamental rights, and millions of them are now deprived of them. They are victims of violence, trafficking and exploitation, they are often reduced under conditions of slavery, the object of persecution and kidnapping to make them children-sacrifices” he adds. “Today, as conflicts multiply, humanitarian crises and inequalities become worse, they are the smallest to pay the highest price,” says the Head of State.
“Even in our country there are situations of abandonment and marginality that we cannot afford to consume in silence and indifference. Too many boys hide their fragility behind the anger, mutism or screen of a computer, in a context that observes them without really understanding them” Chiosa Mattarella. “A concrete, daily and shared commitment is needed to give back the youngest confidence, protection and real opportunities for growth, making effective the constitutional principles that protect childhood and promote human and social development. The suffering of a child is the defeat of an entire community while every time a young man grows heard, welcomed, respected, the community renews and finds, in his voice, the hope of the future” he concludes.
