PADOVA (ITALPRESS) – “The investment in Africa for its development is of primary importance for our Europe. The future of the two continents and their peoples is necessarily and increasingly connected.” This was said by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in Padua, on the occasion of the annual meeting of Medici with Africa – Cuamm, for the 75th
anniversary of the foundation of the University College of Aspirants and Missionary Doctors, where it was welcomed with a long standing ovation. On stage the embrace with Don Dante Carraro, director of the NGO, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the foundation.
“The Mattei Plan is a step in the path, an operational forum of involvement and collaboration. It is important in these days the authoritative Italian presence at the G20 in Johannesburg and at the Angola conference between the European Union and the African Union. The Cuamm was a pioneer – he continued the head of the state -. Solidarity generates trust and is an antidote to resignation, indifference. Aldo Moro signed the decree with which Cuamm was recognized as the first Italian NGO in the field of health. As a young man he wrote that the destiny of man is to have perpetually hunger and thirst for justice. This teaches the women and men of Cuamm. The wish is to continue, to raise awareness, the common conviction of inviolable dignity and respect for the person, of each person. For this reason the Republic is grateful”, concluded Mattarella.
