BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – “The thermometer of civic participation and, therefore, of trust in the institutions of the Republic, urges to ensure that they are mirror of the popular will, much more in a moment of worrying bending of the exercise of the vote”. This was said by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during his speech at the National Assembly of Anci in Bologna.
“I would like to repeat before you that we cannot settle for a low-intensity democracy. This deficiency could not in any way be filled by technical mechanisms, which could, in some cases, aggravate it: representativeness is another thing. Reducing urn turnout is a challenge for those who believe in the value of democratic participation of citizens. The engine of the municipalities is called to put in circulation social, economic, cultural energy” added.
