Twenty-two years ago, in Nassiriya, a truck full of explosives forced the place to block at the entrance of the Maestrale base, home of the Italian MSU of the Carabinieri, causing the death of 28 people, including 19 of our compatriots among civilians, military and carabinieri. On the occasion of this day, I want to thank once again all those who work in the international missions of peace, putting at risk their own safety in defense of our values and the safety of all of us. Just like those servants of the state who in Nassiriya gave their lives for Italy and to fulfill their duty to the end. The sons of our country who have departed with courage, bringing with them values of peace, honor and service. All of them and their families go, even today and forever, our emotional and grateful thinking. We will never forget their sacrifice.” So on X the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni.
