ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In September Istat estimates that the seasonal index of industrial production increases by 2.8% compared to August. On the average of the third quarter the level of production decreases by 0.5% compared to the previous three months. The monthly seasonal index marks increases in all major groupings of industries: a wider variation characterizes the energy (+5.4%), while the increases for instrumental goods are more limited (+1.4%), intermediate goods (+1.3%) and consumer goods (+1.0%). Net of the calendar effects, in September 2025 the general index increased by 1.5% (the calendar working days were 22 against 21 September 2024).
Positive evolution is widespread in all sectors: increase consumer goods (+2.3%), intermediate goods (+1.3%) and to a less marked extent instrumental goods (+0.9%) and energy (+0.6%). The sectors of economic activity that record the greater tendencies are the manufacture of computers and electronic products (+12.3%), the food, beverage and tobacco industries (+9.2%) and the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+3.8%). Larger flexions are found in the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (-4.4%), in the wood, paper and printing industry (-4.1%) and in the manufacture of chemicals (-4.0%).
